Moriteru Ueshiba
Moriteru Ueshiba (Doshu, born April 2, 1951) is the third and current doshu of the Aikikai. He was born in Tokyo, Japan, and assumed the title of d?shu on January 4, 1999 following the death of his father, Kisshomaru Ueshiba. He is a grandson of Morihei Ueshiba, the founder of aikido. He graduated from Meiji Gakuin University with a degree in economics.[1] He assumed the position of dojocho or director of Aikikai Hombu Dojo in 1986 and in 1996 became chairman of the Aikikai Foundation. He is also the author of the book Progressive Aikido and co-author of the book Best Aikido: The Fundamentals along with the aid of his father Kisshomaru Ueshiba and author of second continuing book of Best Aikido which is called The Aikido Master Course: Best Aikido 2. In keeping with the iemoto system, he is expected to be succeeded as d?shu by his son Mitsuteru Ueshiba.
